The South Beach Diet is a diet plan created by Dr. Arthur Agatston and Marie Almon. The original approach for this diet plan is an alternative to low-fat. This diet plan is not a low carb diet plan, instead this diet plan relies on the right carbohydrates and right fats.
The South Beach Diet was initially created by Dr. Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist, to prevent heart disease on his obese patients. Later on, Dr. Arthur Agatston started promoting this diet plan for weight loss after he successfully treat his patients.

South Beach Diet is base on phases.
Phase 1: This phase which last for the first two weeks of the diet. This phase designed to stabilize the sugar level of the body and eliminate the craving of sweets and starches. According to Dr. Arthur Agatston, the dieters can lose weight about eight to thirteen pounds during this phase.
Phase 2: As you continue using South Beach Diet, the dieters should expect to lose weight about one to two pounds per weeks. On this phase, you are re-introduce to delicious and nutritious foods such as fruits and vegetables. This phase will last as long as you reach your expected weight-loss goal.
Phase 3: This phase is all about maintaining your weight. During this phase, you need to eat foods in moderation. If you feel that you are gaining weight, all you need to do is get back to phase 1 and phase 2.
